When I was growing up no one really shared anything to me on how to be groomed,a better personality etc..I have learnt it all throughout the span of 30 years, working across the globe, interacting and meeting with various new people, culture etc.. And today I am so glad to share the same with you ..If this post can help anyone there is nothing like it..
So many people ask me what it takes to a mature human being both at professional and at personal level..I guess both are just same..so here are few key points which attributes to a matured person.
So first and foremost taking ownership of your action or rather responsibility of your action..When we were younger we used to shift the blame to someone else in order to avoid ever having to experience negative consequences..But actually these are the the type of situation if you can swallow your pride and say "You are rite and this was my fault and I accept responsibility and I apologize"..You will have no idea how much respect you will gain once you can have the courage to do that..Many at times people overlook this factor..This also holds true during an argument with other person..Just to avoid embarrassment many people don't tend to accept their action and get into blame game like "you said so, that's why I did it" or you were the one who said like that" etc, however if one can actually take the responsibility of their action you will rise above not only in an argument scene in particular but in your life in general..
Many at times we have asked people during investor meeting if he/she can share the most uncomfortable moment in their life..And if the person can comfortably tell us what it was we gain the faith that the person had the courage to overcome the embarrassment of his most personal thing in life and this is what it takes to be a true entrepreneur..
Again this is very important to be respectful to others..Its a sure sign of immaturity when you make fun of others or degrade etc..No one deserves to be subjected to that..When I started my career I used to be made fun sometimes by my friends or seniors because I was earning less than them and I was not dressing the way they used to etc..It used to hurt me..I guess what I am trying to say is no one deserves to be degraded for what they are..And if we can master the skill of respecting others there is nothing like that.
Another important point I want to mention is being calm and composed of your behavior..History says that people who are calm they have gained more success. And this is true..If you act impulsively and show impulsive nature the more is the risk for people may be afraid of you and that is actually not a good sign because this will lead you to be a unapproachable person..And no one would like to be considered the same.Learning how to digest success is another important trait of a global matured person..Simply because successful people across the globe are very modest about their success and thats why they are able to gravitate even more success eg Elon Musk, Larry Page,Sergey Brin etc...If we listen to their interviews they are very poised and never lose their mind even at the silliest question by the interviewer..
I also want to make it a point here to mention about non-diplomacy here..What I mean is most of the time in corporates or in personal life people act very diplomatically just to avoid some outcome..But that is not necessarily true..Because diplomacy is a recipe for Hippocratic..Good if you are going to be a foreign secretariat or in NATO but certainly not in day to day life..I hate people who act like a diplomat and that is according to me a Hippocratic and not a maturity..For example if you go to a place where a person is stuck with a debate with another person for justice and you are acting like a silent spectator ..That is a sure sign of hippocracy.A matured person would be one who would actually try to mitigate the fight between both and at times even learning to take stand is also a very a good approach..
Being humble is another important point here. Immature people act like they know everything..The key is to learn from everyone around you specially learn more from people who knows more than you..I think knowing your audience and adjusting your content according to person is a very good way of exhibiting maturity..
Well hope you will leave few comments if you also feel the same..And please feel free to disagree..Take care...
